Slow Cooker Kalua Pork

Sometimes I am in a “set it and forget it” mood when it comes to meals. Who isn’t? When this mood arises, this is totally the time for me to bring out my slow cooker. One of my favorite slow cooker meals is Slow Cooker Kalua Pork. It only calls for 5 ingredients and is flavorful, fatty, and simple.

Slow Cooker Kalua Pork

1- 4lb pork shoulder or butt (fat cap included)

1 tablespoon of liquid smoke (I used this!)

1 tablespoon of Himalayan pink salt (I used this!)

1 tablespoon of garlic powder

½ of a medium onion sliced

Directions: Place pork in crockpot with liquid smoke, Himalayan pink salt, garlic powder and onion. Rotate roast every couple of hours. Cook on low for at least 6 hours (varies with different cooker brands). Cook until the fat cap has rendered, and the meat is pull apart tender.

We love this as a standalone, fried with cabbage, on top of caulirice or in a burrito bowl.
